Yes We Know you are very Excited to know how to make Makhani Dal like Restaurants at home. It’s the creamiest lentil, preferred by almost all Indians and the most ordered dish at restaurants. It’s bright red in colour due to added.

Recipe Ingredients for boiling

  1. Black Lentil (Sabut Urad Dal) – 1 cup/200 gms
  2. Water –  3 cups for soaking and 3 cups for boiling
  3. Butter – 50 gms
  4. Green Cardamom – 4 pcs
  5. Garlic Paste – 4 tea spoons
  6. Degi Chili Powder – 1 tea spoon
  7. Salt – 2 tea spoons
  8. Milk – 1 cup
  9. Tomatoes and degi chili powder.

Boiling Method :

  1. Add all the ingredients in a pressure cooker. (Preferably small cooker for this quantity; 3 litres cooker)
  2. Close the lid and keep it on high flame till first whistle.
  3. After first whistle, reduce the flame to low and cook for 20 minutes on same low heat.
  4. Release the steam and open lid.
  5. Add one cup milk and simmer again for 20 minutes on low heat.

Recipe Ingredients : Tempering

  1. Butter – 100 gms
  2. Garlic Paste – 2 table spoon
  3. Degi Chili Powder – 3 tea spoons
  4. Fresh Tomato Puree – 1 cup (Recipe on page 52)
  5. Kasoori Methi Powder spoon – 1/3 tea
  6. Ginger Julienne – 2-Inch ginger
  7. Garam Masala – half tea spoon
  8. Butter Cubes – for garnish

Pre preparation of Dal Makhani

  1. Wash and soak black lentils for 8 hours. (Preferably soaked overnight, a day before cooking)
  2. Peel, wash and blend garlic in blender with some water to make fine paste.
  3. Peel, wash and make julienne from ginger.

Final Preparation of Dal Makhani :

  1. Keep a pan on low heat and slide in butter.
  2. Add garlic paste and cook for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Now add degi chili powder and stir for 10 seconds.
  4. Immediately add tomato puree. Cook for 10 minutes till it releases fat.
  5. Add boiled dal and mix well, simmer again for 15 minutes till it is thick creamy.
  6. Add kasoori methi powder and ginger julienne.
  7. Adjust salt as per taste and sprinkle garam masala, mix well.
  8. Serve hot with butter cubes on top.
